Been cleaning my office today, it was a mess and now it looks like a cyclone has ravaged through it. Hopefully by sundown it should be neat and tidy. I have a special guest bunking in my office for a couple of days very soon and want to make sure she is comfortable. I really should get out into my garden too it is a shambles and overgrown since being away on holidays and especially this week with a balanced combination of sun and rain.
In a small way I still feel as though I am on holidays. Lately I have been dreaming of being on a boat in the beautiful deep waters of the Whitsundays.
The second stop of my road trip was Rocky on Monday 12th October, better known as ‘Rockhampton’. I stayed at a very nice and very reasonably priced hotel along the river in South Rocky and saw one client that afternoon. Rocky was not a destination I was including in the itinery as such but rather just a stop off for somewhere to sleep and work a little to help fund the holiday. Was a hot, dry day in Rocky, in fact, the drive leading up to Rocky was a hot one (praise the marvellous invention of aircon!) I rented an apartment therefore was able to cook dinner to save on the expense and unhealthy eating trap that travelling can have you in. Outside of my apartment was a reasonably sized balcony where I stood naked in the breeze and watched literally hundreds (possibly 1000 or more) of rainbow lorikeets and black crows congregate and not for the usual mid-late afternoon feed as birds do, but this seemed like a regular early evening get together (it was on dusk) and had me wondering what the cause or reason was and if I could translate, what would they be saying to each other. The mass of feathered friends reminded me a little of Alfred Hitchcocks ‘The Birds’ minus the ‘horror’ undertones. It had been many many years since I had travelled through Rockhampton (close to 10yrs to be exact) and you can’t help but notice how much the place has expanded. I think a tour there sometime in the future could be on the cards to build up the Rocky data base hehe
I slept like shit, the apartment was great however, the bed was far too hard for my liking. Ahh well can’t have everything.
Next destination AIRLIE BEACH and the WHITSUNDAYS here I come!!!!
