Hey ya’ll!
Did you know that October 27th (today) that singers Sonny and Cher wed and Cher wore bell-bottoms? NO? Well you do now!
So, I went on a road trip, it was holiday time, a much deserved and needed break away from all I do and the norm. It was Sunday 11th October and my first destination was Tin Can Bay to feed the dolphins. This required leaving the Gold Coast at approximately 4am to arrive in time for the dolphins who swim into the bay between 7 - 8am. Mystique and Destiny are their names and both male (wtf???) it was a nice experience, however, slightly disappointed was I….or could it be that I had myself geared up to be feeding them fish from my mouth and swimming naked with them through the channels of the bay frolicking in the water and communicating with them as though they were the cousins of Flipper? Yes I think so! More fool me! Never the less being given one small fish to hand feed them was still an experience I recommend to anyone wishing to see wild dolphins in their natural habitats.
Oakey my friend lets fire up the trawler and go out to Morton Island where I CAN swim naked with them and feed them fish from my mouth and frollick in the deep waters of our mother earth!
Eggs Benedict was consumed shortly thereafter YUMMO!
The Esplanade walk in Tin Can Bay was a relaxing affair and pretty to boot! With oceanic views and rainforest patches to walk though and the sight and beautiful songs of native birds above.
A short drive away was the very pretty and picturesque Rainbow Beach where I bought a small glass of coloured sands. Then onto the caravan park where I rented a small run down little cabin for the night, after all I just needed a bed, tomorrows destination ‘Rockhampton’
What I learnt from Tin Can Bay was a lovely reminder of how peaceful and quiet little beach communities like this can be and it also reminded me to return, for the third time again someday.
As Mork used to say ‘nanoo, nanoo’
Peace out!
